Maximise efficiency with streamlined workflow

Dispense Works enables pharmacists to assess multiple scripts against a patient once, rather than one patient against each item being dispensed. A medication summary shows a snapshot of the patient’s current regimen allowing changes in brand, dose and form to be identified at a glance.

Dispense faster while improving patient safety

A full patient profile allows for the easy recording of external and OTC medicines to supplement local dispensing history, as well as medical conditions, allergies and adverse reactions, clinical interventions, vaccinations and observations. An extensive set of reference material is presented within Dispense Works, improving workflow by reducing the need to consult external sources of information such as the ‘Australian Medicines Handbook’, ‘LactMed’ or ‘Medicines in Pregnancy’.

Clinical decision support is provided by MIMS Integrated, comprising drug-drug, drug-condition, drug-allergy and therapeutic duplication warnings. An innovative multi-drug interaction system means that interactions between three (or more) drugs can be identified—also known as the ‘triple whammy’. Significantly, interactions can be checked for medicines dispensed in other pharmacies (via the MyHR) or OTC.

Easy to use with integrated compliance and tracking

Dispense Works is touchscreen-optimised to allow for easy and quick navigation of clinical and reference information. Fingerprint authentication identifies staff members responsible for each stage of the dispensing process, with each prescription’s status tracked from patient to dispensary, to the till, and back to the patient again.

Built-in MIMS integration (optional)

MIMS is the most preferred and trusted source of medicines information for Australian healthcare professionals. MIMS Integrated is built-in and interfaces directly with the Dispense Works workflow.

MIMS medicine information is built on a heritage of local expertise, credibility, and adaptation to changing healthcare provider needs. Their information gathering and analysis methods are proven and robust. MIMS information is backed by MIMS Trusted, a rigorous editorial process that is constantly updated from a variety of sources including primary research literature. The Australian database and drug interactions are locally relevant, clinically reviewed and updated monthly.

The majority of Australian prescribing packages and many dispensing applications—including Dispense Works—are supported by the MIMS medicines database.

Built in Aus DI Integration (optional)

AusDI is Australia’s most comprehensive and up-to-date database of independent drug monographs, pharmaceutical company product information (PI), consumer medicine information (CMI), product summaries, drug product images, interactions and safety monographs.

As a POS Works preferred partner, selected AusDI content is now fully integrated with Dispense Works. In addition, the integration also includes in-house drug interactions and safety warnings created by the MedicalDirector Pharmacy Team. This is the same safety data that is utilised daily by Australian GPs in MedicalDirector’s clinical applications to support their prescribing requirements, so you can feel confident knowing that you’re getting the most up to date, trusted and reliable information available. 

The AusDI Data Service provides Dispense Works users a comprehensive collection of referential content including CMIs, PIs and highly regarded independent drug monographs.
